The New England Hebrew Academy

The New England Hebrew Academy was founded in 1944 by the Previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn.

Our mission is to inspire our students to study Torah diligently so that they in turn can spread the light of Torah to the world.

We are located on Essex Street in Brookline's Cottage Farm neighborhood. The Cottage Farm site consists of the Lionel S. Goldman Preschool, the Grossman Elementary School, and a Beis Medrash, study hall, and shul together with the administrative offices. These facilities enable us to provide our students with a comfortable, up-to-date environment that is academically and religiously conducive to achieving the lofty goals we set for them.

The administrative building was dedicated as the Grossman Building in memory of Lizzie and Reuben Grossman. In December of 1995, the main school was dedicated as the Rae and Joseph Gann Building.

Those who have shared in these great accomplishments, by having had the foresight and the perception to realize the necessity to establish a "Makom Torah", a Place of Torah, have indeed made a noble investment in enabling the Greater Boston Jewish Community to develop and grow. Their beneficence will surely forever bear fruit. As long as our children will occupy the seats of a Torah educational environment, our people and our heritage will be enriched and perpetuated.
